The Glides returned to one of their favorite venues, Tim Finnegan’s Irish Pub http://timfinnegans.com/ on Saturday, July 15th. The Glides rocked the north Phoenix watering hole for over 3 hours, playing an eclectic combination of original an cover songs.
To open the night Travis, Paul, and Mark each hit the stage for a solo set. Travis went first, with his acoustic guitar fueled musical comedy. Paul took the stage second and wowed the crowd with his vocal and Ucayali playing prowess. Mark wrapped up the acoustic part of the evening with some classical guitar.
A little after 9, the full band took the stage at Tim Finnegan’s Irish Pub. They opened with their hit single “One Time (Ms. Gadway)”. Next, came came another track from their upcoming (Self Titled) EP, the hard rocking “In The Night”.
As the night went on The Glides played all of their original favorites, and covered classics from guitar legends such as “The Wind Cries Mary” and “Fire” by Jimi Hendrix and “Cocaine” by Eric Clapton.
They gave an energetic rendition of “I Feel Good” by “The King of Soul” James Brown, and ended the first set with “Blo Diddley”.
A highlight of the night, was The Glides cover of “Stray Cat Strut” by The Stray Cats, a shout-out to guitarist Mark Harrison’s previous band The Downtown Dramatics.
The Glides rocked on until almost midnight, not even stopping when the schedule for the night “said that it was time to take a break”. The night ended the way that it began, with a reprise of the band’s biggest hit, “One Time (Ms. Gadway).
