Tommy began his racing career in the Street Stock division at Spanaway Speedway where he won 3 races. He then moved up to the SCAR Sportsman series where he ran for 2 years winning 8 races and never finishing outside the top 8 in each race he entered. Tommy was voted Spanaway Speedway’s Sportsman of The Year in 1995.
Tommy then moved to the Late Model Challenge Series where he competed for 3 years. While running with the LMCS series Tommy won 4 races and finished in the top 10 in the Championship Standings twice. Tommy then moved to the Whelen All-American weekly series at Evergreen Speedway where he still competes.
HayWire Motorsports
HayWire Racing is currently a four car team, with Tommy, Brodie & Tim running in the Super Stock division and Donny running in the Street Stock division. The team has been competing since 1992 when crew chief Derrell decided to start racing. The team began as a single car team with Tim driving until 1996 when Tommy would join them and expand the operation to two cars and then later expanding to a three car operation with Donny stepping into the driver’s seat and finally expanding to a four car operation when Tommy selected Brodie to drive his other car.
Haywire Racing has fielded cars at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington; Southsound Speedway in Tenino, Washington; Wenatchee Valley Super Oval in Wenatchee, Washington; Yakima Speedway in Yakima Washington; Spokane Super Oval in Spokane, Washington; Stateline Speedway in Post Falls, Idaho, Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, Oregon as well as tracks that no longer operate such as Spanaway Speedway in Spanaway, Washington; Tricities Raceway in Tricities, Washington and Port Angeles Speedway in Port Angeles, Washington.
For the 2017 racing season, HayWire Racing will be continuing their focus at Evergreen Speedway as well as looking for other opportunities for exposure.
